Connecting People to a Purpose

Prayer Ministry

Thought for the Month: Pray for God’s Will to be done. (The prayer that never fails…Jan Karon)

Scripture for the Month: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 NIV

As this is being written, Japan and her people are suffering horrendous affliction due to the great earthquake and the ensuing tsunami. Many thousands of people, men, women and children, have lost their lives and many more thousands are in harms way due to the lack of food, clean water and shelter, and an almost certain problem with their nuclear facilities may result in radiation poisoning for many more thousands. Let us be “faithful in prayer” for these dear people, who over 65 years ago were our enemy, but who are now one of the few allies this country has left. May God grant a great harvest of souls for His kingdom through this tragedy as we pray for them to turn to Him for help, hope and comfort.

My own prayer life has been in turmoil during the last few weeks as we have dealt with and are dealing with a diagnosis of cancer. But God has shown His faithfulness to us in that YOUR faithful prayers have lifted and carried us throughout this process. Have you ever been so down or so burdened that you couldn't pray? I was in that dark place recently. But the calming thing was, I KNEW my Pine Summit family was standing in prayer for us. What an awesome feeling it is to feel the arms of God encircling, holding us close and letting us lean on Him as He walks with us through diagnosis, surgery, and very soon, treatment…..without any fear at all. We thank you all for your faithful and earnest prayers on our behalf.

I have gotten a week or so behind on the prayer bracelets due to unforeseen circumstances, but with God’s help, will catch up soon. Look for a list to write your names or initials on this week!

PS. Have you ever discovered it is easier to pray and believe for someone other than yourself? I certainly have! I think that may be one reason God instructs us to pray for each other….what do you think?

In the service of our King,

Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil. It has no point.
